The DMC-FS15 features a 29mm wide-angle 5x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens (35mm film camera equivalent: 29-145mm). Renowned in the film camera world for its superb performance and compact size, the LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens inherits its outstanding quality and form. The 29mm wide-angle lens can be used to capture groups of people at parties and other indoor scenes, as well as magnificent architectural structures and landscapes. The 5x optical zoom allows you to capture distant subjects without degrading image quality.

The DMC-FS15's 2.7-inch LCD has total of 230,000 dots for high resolution. It features the intelligent LCD function, which increases the backlight brightness in 11 steps  according to the ambient light intensity. At the highest of these 11 steps, the LCD backlight becomes approx. 1.4times brighter than normal. This makes both shooting and viewing photos easier and more convenient.

The DMC-FS15 packages a 29mm Wide Angle Lens which captures a wider area than a standard 35mm lens., 5x optical zoom, Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with f2.8 brightness into a slim, compact body. Comprising seven elements in six groups, including three aspherical lenses, this advanced lens unit realizes the outstandingly slim and compact body yet passing Leica's stringent standards to deliver an exceptional optical performance. Further, in 3-megapixel resolution mode, the Extra Optical Zoom function provides additional magnification, extending the zoom power to 9.8x.

Leica DC Lens
The Leica DC lens inherits both its name and its outstanding quality from Leica Camera AG, maker of lenses renowned in the film camera world for their superb performance and compact size. This sophisticated lens system includes 3 aspherical lenses to compensate for spherical aberration. And each features an advanced multi-coating process that is applied to lens surfaces to help prevent fogging caused by flare and ghosts caused by excessive light.

The DMC-FS7 incorporate an easy-to-see, large, 2.7-inch 230,000-dot high-resolution LCD for comfortable viewing while both monitoring shots and playing back the results. The Intelligent LCD function detects the light condition and automatically boosts the LCD backlighting by max. 40% when shooting outdoors in bright sunshine, and adjusts the frame rate when shooting in low-lit situations.

Macro Zoom
Using the digital zoom function, you can pull subjects even closer than the closest point possible with the wide-angle setting, and capture dramatic close-ups.

Photo Frame Mode
In Photo Frame mode, you can compose your shot while displaying one of the frames registered in the camera. This is a quick, easy way to produce photos with attractive borders.
